November 10 Workshop

Tuesday's workshop began with a short presentation from Maureen Salter, who gave us the background behind Remembrance Day in Canada and Veteran's Day in America. Both originated as a commemoration of the end of World War I and have continued in some fashion since that time. Maureen even found a musical version of the poem "In Flanders Fields," written during the war by Canadian physician John McCrae.

We took a short look at Fold3, the subscription website that concentrates on military records, to point out that some of its content is free to browse. The beginners' table was busy, and other members were getting reacquainted or making use of the room's internet capability.
