FamilySearch Wiki: Part 2

Tuesday we had our final meeting of the 2020-21 season via Zoom. Pam finished her presentation on how to use the Wiki, and it was amazing to learn how much information is contained in this part of the FamilySearch website.

She showed us how to find the collections that have been digitized but are still not indexed by starting with the "Browse all Collections" button on the search page.

Pam also explained how to use the new "Guided Research" feature that helps to focus on the most useful collections for a selection of 15 countries. Records suggested here can come from websites other than FamilySearch. Countries available for guided research—remember the criteria=significant amount of online indexes for birth, marriage and death records. The goal is to have you get quick positive information! The areas available for guided research include Canadian provinces, Costa Rica, Denmark, England Counties, Finland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, States in the US, and  Wales.

Pam demonstrated the process of helping FamilySearch by indexing records that have been digitized so that they become searchable by all.
